Hoipolloi MASHHoipolloi MASH is the name we’ve given to all the projects we do that happen in addition to our programme of touring work. Pretty much anything goes, as long as there’s time and the excitement to give it a go. Some of these projects are on-going and regular, some are one-off; some are planned and well-organised, others are created on an ad-hoc basis and thrown together in the very last minute. Hoipolloi MASH can include work that is initiated by us, as well as events that others might ask us to create. Hoipolloi MASH includes: Education workWe run workshops, residencies and events for various groups, including children, young people, adults and professionals. For more information about our education work, please click on the link on the left-hand side of the page. Site-specific eventsIn May 2004, we created Ablaze!, a fiery fairy-tale that was commissioned by Wysing Arts for their annual fire event. To read more about this production, click here. Rehearsed readings and work-in-progress performancesOccasionally Hoipolloi create scripts that need to be read before they go into rehearsal. And once we’re in rehearsal, we often present work-in-progress performances that help us to gauge an audience’s reaction to a piece. Cabaret Nights, Impro Nights and ScreeningsHoipolloi enjoyed creating a cabaret in 2004 which we intend to do again. The company are keen to continue developing music and song and will search for a format to present this. As part of an on-going development, Hoipolloi are planning on presenting an evening of developing stories through improvisation. And as we continue to shoot film we will look for ways to screen our work, in combination with presenting our photography.
