We began our association with the emerging performance artist Hugh Hughes in 2005 to create Floating. It has been really exciting for Hoipolloi to meet and work with Hugh and be part of his truly unique way of creating theatre
Floating has been a great success and was presented with a Total Theatre Award at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August 2006. The show has also visited New York and enjoyed a two week run as part of bite07 at the Barbican Centre, London.
Following the show’s success, we joined forces with the New Wolsey Theatre, Ipswich to commission Hugh’s second show, Story of a Rabbit. Following previews at the PULSE Festival, Ipswich the show premiered at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August 2007 where it was awarded a Fringe First.
The collaboration with Hugh Hughes Productions creates work that exposes reality as a very slight concept in which there are many cracks through which we fall. The project aims to investigate this obvious and mysterious link between what is real and factual and what is imaginary and unclear
